The struggle is big, the ecosystem has changed drastically and the expectations are still very immature.

The region has been witnessing a huge pressure to correct itself. Politics play a major role in affecting business stability and economic prosperity, and what could be the pains of some parties will be the gains of others.

I won't tackle the issue from a political or economic perspective, I will summarize the key findings in my own view, with a complete disclaimer that it is merely a personal opinion, away from any technical advise:

1. When planning for the future, plan for worst, average and best scenarios.

2. Include an exit strategy because all scenarios are possible. Set emotions aside; you are a business leader not a friend or a psychologist

3. When planning for the next steps, always think regional; your business must not be a tree, it can be rooted somewhere and having branches somewhere else. Ideally, have different bases in different jurisdictions because crisis will keep jumping around.

4. No matter what your business is, integrate online, remote, digital, technological aspects, otherwise: good luck.

5. When you consider competition, beware the indirect hidden players: your substitute solutions.

6. Don't count on your uniqueness, there are always others doing something better, you just either are too busy to find them or too arrogant to accept this fact.

7. You can't know it all; employ smarter employees and smartest experts to help you expand properly. What you know is already obsolete. You will expire by the time you realize it.

8. Synergize; build alliances, partnerships, joint ventures...1+1=3 (historically), these days it equals 10.

9. Build your leadership skills. Read it again. One more time.

10. Take calculated risks. Invest with caution, study your options, ask around, ask more, create different simulations but then move out of the grey area and take sharp decisions.

11. Be accountable for any decision you take. Follow up, assume full responsibility, correct, plan again, try again, fail sometimes, succeed more times, and share your success story.

The last 20 years were tough, the last 5 years years were very tough, and the next 5 years only God knows what is waiting for us. Be prepared for all scenarios, have faith in yourself, in your business, and in God. Because only with faith we can expand to new horizons.

Always ready to meet and expand.
